Water is fundamental to ensuring food security and sustainable livelihood. Vikash had taken up watershed and agriculture development programmes in 3 blocks of Koraput District, 2 blocks of Boudh District, 2 blocks of Bargarh District , 3 blocks of Puri District and 2 blocks of Kalahandi District.

It undertook construction/installation of diversion- based irrigation, irrigation canals, small lift irrigation, farm wells, micro-irrigation systems, check dams, percolation tanks and farm ponds optimizing utilization of precious water resources. After the super cyclone, Vikash had installed tube wells in cyclone affected areas. It has also promoted spring based drinking water supply in remote hilly areas of Koraput and Malkangiri districts.
Advocacy and training in water quality monitoring/management is being done in Bhubaneswar as a part of the OWSSB project.
