54 Infants died in past 12 days

Sardar Vallabhai Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhavan) in Cuttack, Odisha witnessed 54 deaths in past 12 days.  A central team submitted its report to Health Ministry on 31st August 2015 highlighting severe infrastructure lapses, staff shortage as well as hygiene issues as the contributory factors for the deaths

 

Odisha stands above the National average in terms of MMR & IMR

The Maternal Mortality Rate in Odisha remained 222 per one lakh women against national average of 167, with the rate of Infant Mortality Rate stood at 51 per 1000 child birth against the national average of 40

On Monday, 29th June 2015, A need assessment camp for Speech and Hearing impaired was organised by Vikash with the support of Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Mr. Deepak Kumar Jena, Audiologist, DHH, Puri and the staff of Vikash were present during the camp. 34 Children with Speech and Hearing impairment were assessed among 45 CWD attendees . more...
